The course has three parts. You learn the theory online, practice your skills in the pool, then put it all together on real dives. By the end you can plan and make dives with a buddy, without an instructor.
Knowledge
PADI eLearning on your phone or computer, at your own pace: how your gear works, how pressure affects your body, and how to plan safe dives.
Pool skills
Breathe underwater for the first time, clear your mask, control your buoyancy and handle problems calmly.
Open water dives
Four dives over a checkout weekend, where you show your skills in real conditions and start to explore.
How it runs at 20K
Classes start every month and fit around a normal work week. Finish your eLearning before the first weekend, then join us for three weekends of training.

Questions
Do I need to be a strong swimmer?
No. You need basic water comfort: a 200-yard swim with no time limit and a 10-minute float or tread.
How old do I have to be?
10 or older. Divers aged 10–14 earn the Junior Open Water Diver card, which upgrades to Open Water Diver at 15.
What can I do once I’m certified?
Dive with a buddy to 60 feet (18 meters) anywhere in the world, rent gear and fill tanks, and join dive trips.
Do I have to buy scuba gear?
Rental scuba gear is included for training. You’ll need your own mask, snorkel, fins and boots, and our team will help you choose.
Does my certification expire?
No, it’s good for life. If you haven’t been diving in a while, our Scuba Reactivate refresher gets you back in the water with confidence.
