The Response Skills Every Diver Should Carry — Taught by You.

EFR — Emergency First Response — is PADI's own CPR and first‑aid program, and the Instructor rating puts you at the front of the room teaching it. As an Emergency First Response Instructor, you're qualified to teach CPR, AED use, and emergency care — Primary Care, Secondary Care, Care for Children, and CPR & AED — to divers and non‑divers alike. It's a required step on the way to full PADI Instructor status, and the credential that lets you certify the life‑saving skills every diver should have.

Why Go For It?

  • Teach the skills that matter most. CPR, AED, primary and secondary care, and care for children — delivered in a relaxed, confidence‑first way that gets people to actually step up in an emergency.
  • A required step, on the pro path. Satisfies your CPR/first‑aid instructor prerequisite for the PADI Instructor Exam.
  • Skills for life, not just diving. You don't have to be a diver to teach it — these skills reach far beyond the water.
  • Real teaching reps before you're running a full dive course on your own.

What You'll Need

  • 18 years or older
  • Current Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care training (or equivalent CPR/first‑aid training) within the last 24 months — or complete it as part of your training here
  • No diving certification required

How It Works at 20K

Built into your Instructor track:

  • Course materials and self‑study — the EFR Instructor manual and knowledge development

What You'll Actually Do

  • Practice structuring and presenting knowledge development segments
  • Deliver role‑model skill demonstrations before your final evaluation
  • Walk away qualified to teach Primary Care, Secondary Care, Care for Children, and CPR & AED
