Week 1: May 28-June 4, 2022

While better known as Atlantis Dumaguete, we are actually a part of the municipality of Dauin (pronounced Da-win), the epicenter of Dumaguete’s dive scene. With its black volcanic sand, Dauin is known as the Frogfish capital of the Philippines, and a unique destination for critter diving. Atlantis Dumaguete is located minutes away from over 20 local dive spots, most of which are marine protected areas, and offers day trips to the nearby Apo Island, Siquijor and snorkeling with the Whale Sharks in Oslob.

Our beachfront dedicated dive resort incorporates 44 rooms built around a lush tropical garden and a waterfront restaurant. We offer up to 5 guided boat dives per day, a spacious camera room, a pool and a spa, everything to create a dive vacation of a lifetime!

Atlantis Dumaguete is located in Dauin on Negros Island, the third largest island in the Philippines. This island is believed to have once been part of the island of Mindanao, but was cut off either by continental drift or the rising waters at the end of the ice age.

Dauin has established several sanctuaries, and just one reason for the stunning marine biodiversity exhibited here within which fishing and boating is absolutely prohibited. This includes sites such as Mainit, Luca, Dauin and Masaplod. These sites are well preserved and offer a huge variety and quantity of life forms; Blue ringed octopus, Wonderpus, Mimic octopus, Poison ocellate octopus, Ambon scorpionfish, Flambouyant cuttlefish, Bobbit worms and a wide variety of Nudibranchs are frequent sights.

While in Dumagette, you have the option to join an excursion to Oslob, where Wlhalesharks are known to congregate.

The area also features numerous pocket beaches and stunning tropical scenery.

Atlantis Puerto Galera is beautifully built into the hills of Sabang Beach, Puerto Galera with a beautiful beach front location and centrally located minutes from Puerto Galera’s prime dives. In many travel guidebooks and magazines, Atlantis is described as one of the most outstanding dive resorts in the Philippines and the Grand Dame of Puerto Galera resorts.

Atlantis Puerto Galera is beautifully built into the hills of Sabang Beach, minutes away from over fourty dive spots! Our dedicated beachfront dive resort incorporates 40 rooms with exquisite vegetation, and all amenities to create a dive vacation of a lifetime. Offering up to 5 guided boat dives per day, all located up to 10 minutes by boat from the resort, you can experience the incredible biodiversity of Puerto Galera, a designated UNESCO ‘Man and Biosphere Reserve’ since 1973, home to some of the most diverse coral reef diving in the Coral Triangle.

On one day we will take a day trip to Verde Island - the remote island. Also known as "the center of the center of marine biodiversity", The Verde Island Passage of the Philippines is home to the richest marine biodiversity on the planet. New research results confirm the universal nature of this richness in almost all groups of marine organisms from sponges to fish. Recently, advanced diving technology has permitted the exploration of the Twilight Zone below traditional diving depths to 500 feet. This new zone with limited light penetration is home to a host of new species and the evolutionary relationships of twilight dwellers are just beginning to be discovered. Owing to the richness of this area, comprehensive conservation measures and reducing the impacts of climate change and ocean acidification are necessary to preserve the unique biota of the region. The California Academy of Sciences, together with our many Filipino partners, are developing new scientific tools to insure the security of this biodiversity for coming generations. For more details, you can learn about the bio-diversity of Verde Island on this on-demand webinar: Verde Island Webinar
